Gold price today in Oman, updated live with the world spot price: gram prices for 24K, 21K and 18K in Omani rials and US dollars, plus the ounce, bullion and silver. Oman trades mostly 21K gold for jewellery, and the rial is hard-pegged to the US dollar at 0.3845 — one of the oldest fixed pegs in the Gulf — so Omani prices follow the world spot price alone, with no exchange-rate noise.

Gold in Oman — what to know
Muscat’s Mutrah souk is the historic heart of Oman’s gold and silver trade, famous for traditional Omani silverwork — khanjars, jewellery and coffee pots — alongside gold shops across Ruwi, Al Khuwair and the big malls in Muscat, Salalah and Sohar. Oman applies 5% VAT: on jewellery it is charged on the full invoice value (gold plus making charges), while investment gold, silver and platinum are zero-rated, so bars and ounces carry no VAT at all. Every jewellery quote is therefore raw value + making charges + 5% — and our workmanship checker page in the Arabic section splits any quote into exactly those three parts.
The Arabic Oman section
Every Oman page also exists in Arabic with the full toolset: karat pages for 21K, 24K and 18K, silver, bullion and the ounce, a gold calculator with unit converter and portfolio tracker, a zakat calculator, a workmanship checker, and a sell calculator for used gold: أسعار الذهب في عمان بالعربية
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the gold price in Oman today?
Live Oman prices are in the table above: gram prices for 24K, 21K and 18K in Omani rials and US dollars, updated with the world spot price. When this page was built, 24K was about OMR 52.04 per gram and 21K about OMR 45.53 at a spot price of $4,209.60 per ounce. These are raw metal values before making charges and VAT.
Why is 21K the main karat in Oman?
21K (87.5% pure) is the standard for Omani jewellery: hard enough for daily wear, rich in colour, and the karat the local market quotes first. 24K is reserved for bars, coins and investment pieces, and 18K appears in modern and stone-set designs.
How does VAT work on gold in Oman?
Oman charges 5% VAT. On jewellery it applies to the full invoice value — the gold value plus making charges together. Investment gold, silver and platinum are zero-rated, so bullion bars and investment ounces carry no VAT. When you sell your own gold to a shop, no VAT is involved — you receive the raw metal value minus the shop margin.
How are the rial prices calculated?
We take the world spot price in US dollars and convert it at the official fixed peg of OMR 0.3845 per dollar, set by the Central Bank of Oman. Because the peg does not move day to day, Omani gold prices change only when the world spot price changes — unlike floating-currency countries where the exchange rate adds a second moving part.
Where do people buy gold in Oman?
The Mutrah souk in Muscat is the traditional centre for gold and Omani silverwork, with further gold shops in Ruwi, Al Khuwair and major malls across Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and Nizwa. For investment pieces, buy stamped bars from a recognised dealer with an official invoice showing weight, karat and price — it makes reselling easy anywhere.
