Gold price in Algeria today, updated live with the world spot price and the official dinar exchange rate: gram prices for 18K, 21K and 24K in Algerian dinars and US dollars, plus the ounce, bullion and silver. Algeria is an 18K country — the karat of its jewellery and of the prized Italian imports — and it has one feature every visitor must understand: official-rate prices (ours, and every international site’s) sit far below the prices actually quoted in the local used-gold market, because the local market prices off the parallel exchange rate. We explain that gap openly on these pages and never mix the two bases.

Gold in Algeria — what to know
Algiers, Oran, Constantine and Annaba hold the big gold souks and jewellery quarters, and the country’s used-gold trade — called ‘kasi’ (الكاسي, broken/used gold sold by weight) — is huge, flowing through jewellers and the Ouedkniss classifieds. Algerian jewellery heritage is rich: the Tlemcen chedda bridal costume with its gold jewellery is UNESCO-listed, and Italian-made 18K jewellery is imported and prized at a premium. Two practical rules: every price on this site uses the OFFICIAL dinar conversion only, so compare like with like; and the local market’s parallel-rate figures, which Algerians will quote you for used gold, are explained (labelled and dated) on the Arabic sell page — they are never our price basis.
The Arabic Algeria section
Every Algeria page also exists in Arabic with the full toolset: the flagship 18K page including Italian gold, 24K, silver, bullion and the ounce, a gold calculator with unit converter and portfolio tracker, a zakat calculator, a price checker, and the dedicated used-gold (kasi) selling page: أسعار الذهب في الجزائر بالعربية
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the gold price in Algeria today?
Live Algeria prices are in the table above: gram prices for 18K, 21K and 24K in Algerian dinars and US dollars, converted at the official exchange rate and updated with the world spot price. When this page was built, 18K — Algeria’s standard — was about DZD 13,664.83 per gram and 24K about DZD 18,219.77 at a spot price of $4,206.20 per ounce and an official rate of 134.7292 dinars per dollar. Local market quotes for used gold run much higher, for the reason explained below.
Why are local gold prices in Algeria so much higher than official-rate sites?
Algeria has two exchange rates in practice: the official bank rate, which we and all international price sites use, and a parallel market rate for foreign currency that is much higher. The local gold trade — especially used gold (‘kasi’) — prices in dinars off the parallel rate, so its dinar figures sit far above the official conversion of the same world price. Neither figure is fake; they are two different conversion bases. Our tables are always the official basis, and we explain the local one rather than publish it as prices.
What is ‘kasi’ gold?
Kasi (الكاسي) is the Algerian market for used and broken gold sold by weight for melting or re-trading — old jewellery, inherited pieces, broken items. It is one of the largest informal gold markets in the Maghreb, traded through jewellers and heavily through the Ouedkniss classifieds site. Its prices follow the parallel exchange rate. Our Arabic sell page is devoted to it: how it is weighed, tested and priced, and how to sell safely.
What is Italian gold in Algeria?
Italian-made 18K jewellery is imported into Algeria and carries a strong reputation for fine workmanship and design, so it sells at a premium over comparable local pieces. Its metal value is calculated exactly like any 18K: weight times the 18K gram price. The premium pays for making and brand — and, as everywhere, that premium is generally not recovered when a piece is sold back by weight for melting.
Where do people buy gold in Algeria?
In the jewellery quarters and gold souks of Algiers, Oran, Constantine and Annaba, and from jewellers across the country. Buy jewellery with an official invoice stating weight, karat and price, check the 750 stamp on 18K pieces, and for investment buy sealed stamped bars from a recognised dealer. If you are quoted a dinar price far above our table, ask which exchange basis the shop is using — in Algeria that one question explains most of the difference.
