21K for local jewellery, 22K for expats
Two buying traditions meet in Doha. Qatari and Arab buyers favour 21K for its balance of purity (87.5%) and strength, and it is the karat local shops sell most. The large South Asian community prefers 22K (91.7%), the standard for Indian jewellery, often bought by weight and compared in tola as well as grams — the table above includes tola prices.
