How the UAE silver price is set

Like gold, silver in the Emirates is priced from the international spot market, converted at the fixed dirham rate (1 USD = 3.6725 AED). One troy ounce of silver (31.1035 grams) divided into grams gives the 999 gram price above; the other purities are simple fractions of it (925 sterling is 92.5% of the pure price, before any making charges). Silver moves faster than gold — larger daily swings in percentage terms — which is why the day-change badge on this page matters.

Silver bars, coins and jewellery in the Emirates

Investment silver is sold as 999 bars and coins by bullion dealers — in Dubai’s gold souk districts and the other emirates’ precious-metal shops — usually with a premium over the spot-based price that shrinks as the bar gets bigger. Silver jewellery is almost always 925 sterling. Note the tax difference from gold: qualifying investment silver of 99% purity or more is zero-rated for VAT in the UAE under the same precious-metals rules as gold, while silver jewellery bears 5% VAT on the full invoice value. For the gold side, see the UAE gold price and the Dubai gold price. The Arabic version of this page: سعر الفضة في الإمارات.

Frequently asked questions

What is the silver price in the UAE today per gram?

The live price of one gram of pure (999) silver in dirhams is in the answer block at the top of this page, with the ounce and kilo prices, updated with the international market.

What is the difference between 999 and 925 silver?

999 is pure silver, used for bars and coins. 925 (sterling) is 92.5% silver alloyed for hardness, and is the standard for jewellery and ornaments.

Is there VAT on silver in the UAE?

Qualifying investment silver of 99% purity or more is zero-rated for VAT. Silver jewellery bears 5% VAT on the full invoice value, like gold jewellery.

How much is a kilo of silver in the UAE?

The kilo price is shown in the answer block and the weight table on this page — it is simply 1,000 times the pure gram price, before any dealer premium on a physical bar.

Is silver a good investment compared with gold?

Silver is far cheaper per gram, so it is more accessible, but it is also more volatile and physical bars carry wider buy-sell spreads than gold. Many buyers hold gold for saving and treat silver as a smaller, more speculative addition.
